Over recent weeks we have frequently been asked ‘Can I travel to the Maldives if I have previously tested positive but have now recovered?’

The following is the current status as provided by Maldives Immigration and Maldives Health Protection Agency.

RECOVERY PASS APPROVAL FORM

If you are unable to meet the Maldives entry requirement of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result completed within 96 hours prior to departure to the Maldives, owing to a COVID-19 positive status from a sample collected no more than 60 days prior to arrival date in the Maldives, you can now apply for a COVID-19 Recovery Pass Approval.

Email arrivals.heoc@health.gov.mv

You may apply as soon as you receive your recovery documents. Recovery approval passes are given to positive recovered cases 60 days starting from the sample collection date.

PRE ARRIVAL TO THE MALDIVES

The form can be submitted at anytime prior to arrival within the 60 day recovery period.

Information required:

  • Email
  • Date of Arrival
  • Flight Number
  • Passenger Name
  • Passenger Passport Number
  • Gender
  • Nationality
  • Date of Birth
  • Contact Number
  • Proof of COVID-19 Recovery certificate
  • PCR Result
  • Passport Copy

By submitting the completed form you are declaring that the information provided is true and giving consent to Maldives authorities to use the information for the purposes of providing exemption from the mandatory pre-arrival COVID-19 PCR test.

The approval will be granted to individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 in the 60 day period prior to your arrival date in the Maldives, starting from the original positive sample collection date and potentially are unable to produce a negative result as per the Maldives entry requirements.

Information provided may be used for any subsequent actions that may be deemed necessary for COVID-19 infection prevention and control measures.

IMPORTANT: There is still a requirement to upload the mandatory pre arrival PCR test taken within 96 hours of departure from your country of origin to IMUGA.

We  have been advised that response time  from submission will be within 24 hours, bur could be longer at weekends or public holidays.

PRE DEPARTURE FROM THE MALDIVES

In destination a COVID-19 recovery status pass does not exempt you from completing the pre-departure COVID-19 PCR test if you have stayed on a local island or it is a requirement of your airline or onward destination.

If the departure PCR test is a positive result and is still within the 60 day period of the original positive sample date then no action will be taken and the individual can depart on the Recovery Pass Approval.

If the departure PCR test is a positive result and they fall outside of the 60 day period since the original positive sample date then in destination quarantine procedures will be followed.

WHAT ELSE SHOULD I KNOW ABOUT THE RECOVERY PASS APPROVAL?

Submission of the recovery pass approval form does not automatically mean that you will qualify for approval.

Further information or questions in regard to travel approval can be directed to arrivals.heoc@health.gov.mv or Health Protection Agency hpa@health.gov.mv

We would also suggest you check the requirements for travel that are requested by your airline and also if they will verify and accept you based on the approval received.  Each submission is reviewed and considered for entry on case-by-case by the Health Authority of Maldives (HPA).
