Our Guests Are Always Right
It was a really insightful look at the culture and environment of the Maldives, which was a world away from all inclusive luxury resorts. I learnt a lot about reefs and the huge climate and plastic challenges facing the islands. All in all, the guides and people in the group made it a lot of fun, the sea and sea life were stunning and I came back more relaxed than I’ve been for years!
One of the most unforgettable travel experiences to date. There is a whole other side to the Maldives that can and should be explored, far away from the outdated resorts holiday which produce unfair tourism leakages. Being able to experience the local islands, and the impact that local responsible travel can have on local communities and their fragile islands ecosystem was truly inspiring.
I could not have done this trip without Secret Paradise! As tourism outside of resorts, is relatively new to the Maldives, logistics/transfers/directions are still a bit unclear.

What a perfect day. Shaa was waiting at the tender boat pier for us and took us directly to our boat and off the sandbank.

But this is not a conversation that belongs to one day, which is why on tour, guests are encouraged to get involved in beach cleans, pick up plastic bottles as we explore the shoreline, and learn more about the challenges of waste management in the Maldives.

Today, we celebrate manta rays. But why do manta rays matter to the ocean?
Mantas are filter feeders travelling through the water with their mouths open to capture plankton. As they move between feeding and cleaning areas, they connect different parts of the marine environment and help us understand the health and productivity of our oceans.
They are also long-lived, highly mobile animals whose movements can tell researchers a great deal about changing ocean conditions and marine ecosystems.
Protecting mantas means protecting more than one species. It means protecting the coral reefs, plankton-rich waters and ocean environments they depend on.
Join us on our Manta Conservation Cruise, developed in collaboration with the Maldives Manta Conservation Programme and Manta Expeditions.
